MOVING to a new home can be very exciting.
But there is nothing worse than being greeted by the dirt that the last owners forgot to clean.
Luckily, the cleaning and organizing professional, Caroline Solomon, shared the things you should always clean when you move home.
The first is the first, you have to take the drawers out of the kitchen and give them a good cleaning.
Even if they look clean, it’s best to be sure of the explanation.
This includes cleaning the inside of the refrigerator to remove any odors that may have developed while the property was empty.
Caroline also suggests checking your dishwasher filter if your new pad already has one.
Rinse it quickly with warm soapy water and then throw it in the dishwasher in a warm environment for deeper cleaning.
It is also important to thoroughly clean the oven, the professional shared.
One never knows what dirt might be on the backs of previous landlords or tenants.
Then the cleaning genius shared that your bathroom is a place where dirt and grime can persist.
It is best to rub the tub well with a sponge and disinfect the toilet for peace of mind.
While cleaning the bathroom, check for damp spots or mold, so they can be repaired before they get worse.
You can also disinfect the door handles and light switches, even if they look clean, there is no way to know who was the last person to touch them.
Caroline shared that people always forget to clean high vents and dust filters when they move, so give them a go too.
Finally, vacuum the whole area to remove dusty bunnies from the corners.
Spectators loved the simple tricks: “I moved in a couple of months! I don’t feel like cleaning everything!”
Another said, “When I moved, the flats were so dirty from mud trekking maintenance.”
